NEW MASJID PROJECT
The Islamic Society of Fargo-Moorhead (ISFM) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization serving the muslim community of approximately 6000 in Fargo, North Dakota's largest city and its surrounding region. We have recently purchased a large space with a vision to establish an islamic center to accommodate our growing need. In our new Islamic Center we have two large prayer areas, a multipurpose hall, a children's play area, classrooms for islamic school, library, and few offices.
After about seven months of hard work from volunteers from our community, Alhamdulillah, we have opened the new center on Monday July 29th 2013 (20th Ramadan). Soon after opening the new masjid, we have started weekend Islamic School. Alhamdulillah, we were able to successfully complete the first year of islamic school (session 2013 – 2014). The school will be closed for the youth summer activities at the end of May and reopens at the beginning of September.
Currently, the masjid committee is working hard to get the following projects completed: a) Leaking roof: we have discovered a number of small leaks in the roof causing rain water to drip inside the main prayer area. We need to renovate the entire roof to prevent future leaking; b) Entrance shed: We experienced the need for an entrance shed, specially for winter season to keep the masjid property clean; c) Parking lot needs paving and markings to organize and accommodate more cars; d) School facility: Currently more than 200 students are enrolled in weekend islamic school, we need to renovate existing facility to facilitate more classrooms. e) Other projects include: Making the building more energy efficient and strengthening building security.
Besides the ongoing projects, we need about $4000 per month for regular maintenance. We continue to rely on your help to achieve our dream of a multipurpose Islamic center in Fargo. Please contribute generously.
We are requesting all Muslim Brothers and Sisters to please
donate generously. Jazakallah.
